Albert Lea woman receives split-up jail sentence for overdose death of sister
(ABC 6 News) – An Albert Lea woman received four separate 60-day jail sentences Friday, Feb. 2, for the 3rd-degree murder of her sister.
Jeanne Ellen Penhollow, 51, pleaded guilty to 3rd-degree murder–accomplice after the fact in the death of her sister, who overdosed on oxycodone and fentanyl in 2021.
Penhollow was accused of supplying the fatal drugs to her sister, who was found dead of an overdose in rural Chatfield Feb. 2, 2021.
Fillmore County judge Jeremy Clinefelter agreed to a stay of adjudication, meaning that if Penhollow completes her sentencing and probation without incident, the incident may be removed from her criminal record.

Penhollow received 10 years’ probation, as well as an order to serve 60 days in jail beginning Feb. 2 in 2024 and 2025, followed by 30 days beginning Feb. 2 in 2026 and 2027.
She received credit for one day spent in Fillmore County Jail previously.
Penhollow was also ordered to spend 180 days on home detention with a Drug Patch following her first 60 days in jail.
