(ABC 6 News) – Iowa lawmakers are crafting a bill that would strictly define words like “woman,” “man” and “sex.”
The new bill comes just one day after an Iowa House subcommittee voted down a proposal that would have eliminated gender identity protections under Iowa’s civil rights law.
Some of the changes could impact birth certificates and driver’s licenses.
In a statement, Governor Kim Reynolds said, “women and men are not identical. They possess unique biological differences. That’s not controversial, it’s common sense.”
