Spring-like warmth to end, much colder into weekend
The run of mild spring-like weather over the last several days is about to end as cold Canadian is on the move and will settle into the area heading into the weekend.
High temperatures will once again flirt with records on Thursday with many communities in the ABC 6 Weather First area climbing into the low-to-mid 50s with some upper 50s possible in north Iowa.
Showers will be around through mid-morning before a lull takes hold heading into the late afternoon before a cold front slides through bringing another chance of rain with a rumble of thunder possible. Any rain will end by around 8:00 PM.
Colder temperatures will follow as highs on Friday are expected to be in the upper 30s with a few flurries possible as the colder air builds in.
High temperatures will be in the mid-30s over the weekend which is still above average for early February. Night lows are expected to fall into the 20s.
