Week to start mild, snow potential midweek
The week will get off to a mild start with temperatures soaring well above average for the middle of February.
The area will stay quiet with a mainly sunny sky for Monday and high temperatures near or in the low 40s which is around 10° to 15° above average.
High pressure will build in on Tuesday bringing some cooler Canadian air with it as temperatures dial back a bit with highs in the mid-to-upper 30s.
The wind will turn more to the south on Wednesday ahead of a clipper system which will boost temperatures into the low-to-mid 40s.
The clipper will slide through the area beginning sometime Wednesday evening with precipitation developing. It may start out as rain initially if temperatures can stay warm enough, however as temperatures cool any rain will change to snow overnight before the system exits the area early Thursday morning.
As of now, some accumulations appear likely with most of the area having a high probability of receiving at least one inch, however a narrow band of 2-3″ is possible, but there is still some uncertainty where that may lay out. These details will get ironed out as it gets closer.
Temperatures will cool off to end the week as some chilly polar air drifts south with high temperatures on Thursday and Friday in the mid-to-upper 20s which is closer to average. Night lows will be in the teens.
