No burning order placed in SE Minnesota, high fire risk
(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced a restriction on open burning in southeastern Minnesota, due to high and very high fire risks in the region on the afternoon of Feb. 26.
The MnDNR placed a no open burning restriction in Dodge, Freeborn, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha and Winona Counties.

Under the restriction, residents also may not light campfires in “dispersed, backcountry, backpacking or remote camping areas.” Additionally, fireworks are not permitted outside city limits.

As of 3 p.m. on Monday, a “Very High” fire danger rating as been placed upon Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha and Winona Counties. A “High” rating is in place in Dodge, Freeborn, Mower and Steele Counties.
