Winter returns for a brief stay
The calendar still says it’s February and therefore winter, and it’ll definitely feel like it on Wednesday. But, it’ll be a brief stay as temperatures will moderate very quickly to more spring-like levels the rest of the week into the weekend.
High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the low-to-mid 20s area wide. A blustery northwest wind gusting at times to 25 mph will lead to wind chills in the single digits.
The warm-up begins as early as Thursday as high temperatures get back to near 50° thanks to sunshine and a breezy southerly wind with highs in the mid 50s on Friday.
The warmth really kicks in over the weekend with highs in the low 60s on Saturday and upper 60s to low 70s on Sunday which will again be a record-setting day for many communities.
A system will track into the region Sunday afternoon into Sunday night leading to the chance for rain followed by cooler temperatures in the 40s to start next week.
