Tensions causes disagreements between Rochester City Council members
(ABC 6 News) – Tonight’s city council only met for a little more than an hour, but tensions still tightened between Molly Dennis and her fellow council members.
The tense night started with Dennis removing an item off of the consent agenda, in particular, the hiring of a third-party consultant to review and update the city’s comprehensive plan.
That plan covers things like the Discovery Square development and the downtown waterfront.
It wasn’t much the act of removing the item that caused concerns, but Dennis’ alleged inability to stay on topic.
“This report talks about transportation, have you read the report? It talks about transportation,” Dennis said.
“Can you move on and make a motion to approve,” council president Brooke Carlson said.
“This is about how it’s perceiving our transportation; it’s not, I don’t believe, accurate,” added Dennis.

Dennis says the plan does not accurately reflect the city’s issues, and there isn’t a need for a consultant to be involved.
Despite that, the council approved the item 4 to 1.
The city council will meet again on March 18.
