Precipitation chance late week with tumbling temperatures

Mild and quiet weather will continue through Thursday before a storm brings precipitation chances to the area along with cooler temperatures heading into the weekend.

High temperatures are expected to be in the low-to-mid 50s on Wednesday and Thursday.

A storm system organizing in the southern plains will track northeast towards the local area late Thursday night and Friday leading to the chance for rain with a snow mix possible on Friday as colder temperatures arrive from the north. Most areas will see less than 0.50″ with higher amounts possible in northeast Iowa.

Friday will be a chilly day with high temperatures near 40°. Temperatures will steadily increase over the weekend with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the low-to-mid 40s on Saturday and upper 40s to lower 50s on Sunday.

Warmer air arrives early next week as high temperatures return to near or in the low 60s.
