Suspect in West Concord police chase dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound

(ABC 6 News) – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office released more information related to the police chase that began in West Concord, and ended in Cannon falls.

According to a press release, DCSO deputies were called in to assist a West Concord officer that was rammed by 48-year-old the suspect’s vehicle while attempting a traffic stop.

A witness to the crash followed the suspect, which allowed deputies to catch up to the fleeing vehicle, and begin a pursuit. Deputies say they were able to successfully deploy spike strips as the chase led them into Goodhue County.

The pursuit finally ended in the Mayo Clinic parking lot in Cannon Falls, where the suspect died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Law enforcement says they did not return fire.

The West Concord officer was transported to the Owatonna hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

ABC 6 spoke with the Minnesota State Patrol, who say the suspect rammed a West Concord squad car, before the chase finally ended in Cannon Falls.
