The Rochester Beacon Academy held an emergency board meeting on Sunday night.
The school in southwest Rochester serves about 77 students and employs around 30 staff members and teachers. The board said roughly 90 percent of the students it serves are special education students.
At the meeting on Sunday, the board and staff discussed the reasoning for two staff members resigning in a matter of a couple of months as staff had questions for the board as to what is next and how the search is going to fill the Executive Director and Special Education Director positions.
The board was not given a timeline by the Minnesota Guild of Public Charter Schools to fill these positions, but the institution could face being closed down if these positions are not eventually filled.
