‘Pop Idol’ star Darius Campbell Danesh’s cause of death released

(ABC 6 News) – According to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, “Pop Idol” star and actor Darius Campbell Danesh died from chloroethane inhalation.

Campbell Danesh was found unresponsive in the Berkman Apartments in Rochester on Aug. 11 and pronounced dead.
According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the cause(s) of death were chloroethane inhalation and suffocation.
The death was ruled an accident.
According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry with the CDC, chloroethane, also called ethyl chloride, is a colorless gas which can be used to numb skin before a medical procedure and is used to treat sports injuries.
It can be used as a recreational drug when inhaled.
Chloroethane has also been used as a gasoline additive in the past, and is used in some solvents and dyes.
