Rochester woman arrested after alleged 100 mph police chase charged with DWI

(ABC 6 News) – A woman arrested April 30 was officially charged a week later with multiple DWIs.

According to court documents filed Monday, May 6, an Olmsted County deputy attempted to stop 32-year-old Alysa Marie Mohs.

The deputy initially noted expired registration and lane violations, then learned Mohs had a warrant for her arrest.

According to Minnesota court records, Mohs had been sentenced to 10 days in the Stearns County jail for a theft charge in October of 2023, and was ordered to report to the jail by Feb. 1, 2024.

When Mohs failed to report to the jail, a warrant went out for her arrest on April 18, with orders that she be held “until time is served,” then released.

According to Olmsted County court documents, Mohs accelerated up to 100 miles per hour, and was later located in a Stewartville ditch.

Deputies observed the driver, identified as Mohs, “actively smoking from a bubble pipe,” court documents read.

Court documents allege that Mohs refused to exit her vehicle when ordered, and tried to tense so deputies could not handcuff her.

Court documents claim that deputies took multiple open bottles of alcohol and a travel mug with a mixture that smelled like alcohol from the car.

She was taken to a hospital for medical care, and officially charged with DWI–operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol; DWI–operate a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substance; DWI–combination of any two alcohol/controlled substance/intoxicating substance.

Mohs was also charged with fleeing police in a motor vehicle and obstructing the legal process.

She is scheduled to appear in Olmsted County Court again May 14.

(ABC 6 News) — Around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, a deputy with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said they saw 32-year-old Alysa Mohs driving in the 2000 block of North Main Street in Stewartville.

The deputy knew that Mohs had an active warrant and tried to pull her over. However, the deputy said Mohs drove off, going as fast as 100 miles per hour. Deputies tried to stop her, but then ended the chase and lost sight of her.

A little while later, another deputy said they found Mohs in her vehicle in the ditch. Mohs allegedly refused to obey commands to get out of her car, and was seen smoking methamphetamine. Deputies got her out of the vehicle and arrested her. During the arrest, deputies said they also smelled alcohol on her breath.

Mohs was sent to Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus to be evaluated. Pending test results, Mohs could face charges of 3rd-degree DWI, fleeing in a motor vehicle, and obstruction of justice.
