ALERT DAY: Strong thunderstorms will exit the area late this evening

Strong storms are progressing across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa this evening. The primary threats from these storms are damaging wind gusts, some isolated hail, and locally heavy rainfall.

The main concern for flooding is where there is saturated ground from heavy rain that has fallen over the last couple of days. The majority of tonight’s storms will be moving eastward at a good pace, so that should mitigate any widespread problems.

Showers and thunderstorms will be wrapped up by Midnight tonight.
