Soldiers Field Aquatic Center opens
(ABC 6 News)- Soldiers Field Aquatic Center opened its doors to the public on Monday.
After years in the making, the City of Rochester is thrilled to have a new, safe place for kids and families to hang our and keep cool this summer.
Weather was perfect for opening day.
Over 400 people visited the aquatic center in just the first three hours of it being open.
Folks are drawn in by the big attractions, such as the lazy river, four water slides, rock climbing wall and much bigger splash pad.
While kids were a big fan of the water slides, many older adults enjoyed relaxing in the lazy river.
“This is for everybody, and everybody of any ability can get into any the pools, it’s so adaptive friendly,” said Autumn Kappes, Executive Director of the Rochester Swim Club.
There are still more attractions to come, with a zipline expected to be added later in the week.
