Safe City Nights back for the summer

Safe City Nights, put on by the Rochester Police Department, is back for the summer.

(ABC 6 News)- Safe City Nights, put on by the Rochester Police Department, is back for the summer.

On Tuesday, the Rochester Police Department held its first of six Safe City Nights events all across Rochester throughout summer.

The event was an opportunity for police, fire and EMS to meet kids and help them become more comfortable around emergency personnel.

“Sometimes when people meet law enforcement its on the worst days of their lives, so we want them to come and meet us in a more fun positive manner,” Charlie Arendts of the community action team for RPD said.

The event gave kids the opportunity to see things, such as the inside of a fire truck, that they had never seen before.

The kids were also taught what to do in an emergency situation – and who they should call if something goes wrong.
