70-year-old woman injured in Highway 63 crash

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: One Rochester woman received non-life-threatening injuries in a crash on Highway 63 Thursday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s crash report, at about 2:31 p.m., 25-year-old December Sherman drove a Kia Optima northbound on Highway 63 near the 40th Street on-ramp, while 70-year-old Lucia Gebreab attempted to merge.

The cars collided.

Gebreab received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Marys Hospital, according to the MSP.

Sherman and four children in her vehicle, ages 0-6, were not injured, according to the MSP. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, per the crash report.

(ABC 6 News) – Traffic was reduced to one lane, then expanded to two shortly after a crash on the side of northbound Highway 63 near 40th Street.

According to MN 511 cameras, one vehicle crashed in the far-right lane, while another car traveled most of the way through the median, toward the southbound side of the highway.

That vehicle crashed through the fence separating the northbound and southbound lanes, but has not impacted southbound traffic.

Rochester Fire, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service, and Minnesota State Patrol troopers are on scene.
