(ABC 6 News) – The second annual Cruise for a Cause on Father’s Day was held to help the family of Madeline Kingsbury this year.

Many people across southeast Minnesota came out for the cause.

“Just come out to help the kids and Madeline and the family and just help show justice for the abuse and things like that, that go on,” Justin Schner said.

Madeline Kingsbury’s story has been stretched throughout the state and a year later, people are still giving back.

“Those poor kids are never going to know what hit them or what their life is going to be like now,” Kathy Gudmundson said.

The car cruise took drivers from Rushford all the way to La Crescent.

22 cars lined up to participate in the drive.

“It’s amazing to see everybody just still coming together in such a big group of people and just to make it aware that this abuse is real,” Schner said.

They were escorted by the Rushford Fire Department.

Mile by mile, they enjoyed the drive but also remember they’re doing it for a good cause.

“This is a small token of kindness as far as I can see with the generosity of people coming out and raising money, giving them money they can use in the future,” car cruise organizer Jason Sethre said.

At the end of the day, they raised $2,635. That money will go towards helping Madeline’s children Elliana and Noah.
