Dine like the Hormels

(ABC 6 NEWS) – There is a new dining experience in Austin, and it is all thanks to the new executive director of the Hormel Historic Home.

Cindy Meany became the new executive director of the Hormel Historic Home in May.

She is bringing new ideas and plans to the home to keep the home’s history alive.

The new dining experience is called Lillian’s Table.

It’s inspired by Lillian Hormel, who was George Hormel’s wife.

Lillian loved to cook and entertain people in her home right off of 4th St. NW in Austin.

The Hormels lived in the home from 1901 to 1927.

Meany created Lillian’s Table to not only pay tribute to her love for hospitality but also so Meany could share her passion for culinary.

"I used to own a restaurant and catering business, so I’ve had several people in the community if I would be serving any of my food at the Hormel Home. It just kind of got my wheels turning, and I thought wow, I could create something cool and make it into a fundraiser so that was how the idea of Lillian’s table was born," said Meany.

One of the first people to dine like a Hormel is Elaine Hansen.

"This is always a special part of our community, and having an opportunity to be here with an intimate group here in the dining room is extra special," said Hansen.

The Hormel Historic Home is a non-profit, and Lillian’s Table is just one of many fundraisers that helps keep the home’s history alive.
