‘Rainbow Fentanyl’ pills seized at Mankato residence involved in Friday shooting

(ABC 6 News) – According to the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force (MRVDTF), ‘rainbow fentanyl’ pills were seized during the execution of a search warrant at a residence involved in a Mankato shooting Friday morning.
Task Force agents along with the Mankato Department of Public Safety, located multi-colored pills that were stamped with an “M” on one side, and “30” on the other.
After conducting a field test on the pills, agents found them to contain fentanyl.
In late August, the DEA warned the public of the multi-colored fentanyl pills which are used to target young Americans.
The seizure last Friday was the first time MRVDTF Agents have encountered the multi-colored pills.
The shooting led to the Mankato Department of Public Safety issuing a shelter in place for an area near the city’s Mayo Clinic campus following the report of a gunshot wound just before 9:00 a.m. in the 100 block of Echo Street.
Mayo Clinic Health System’s Mankato hospital went on lockdown for approximately 2 hours due to a shooting at a nearby apartment complex.

Bashir Mohamed, 30, a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting was arrested Saturday morning by Mankato police.
One person was injured in the shooting and taken to a hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. It’s believed the victim and Mohamed knew each other.
Charges have yet to be determined.
