Rochester City Council approves 2023 preliminary tax levy, budget

The Rochester City Council adopted the resolution of the 2023 preliminary tax levy and supplemental budget of more than $92 million dollars on Monday night.
This is the maximum amount the city can collect in property taxes which is an increase of 6.85 percent from the current levy.
The levy includes establishing the preliminary 2023 supplemental budget of more than $588 million, $2 million in voter-approved park referendum monies, as well as establishing a public hearing date of Dec. 5, 2022 to hear public input and for the final adoption of the 2023 supplemental budgets and 2023 tax levy.
“This is relatively in the ballpark of where we thought we would be heading into 2023,” council member Nick Campion said.
Council member Mark Bransford said, “This is the end of a very long process.”
