1 dead, 1 injured after motorcycle hits deer in Wabasha County

(ABC 6 News) – One person is dead and another is injured after the motorcycle they were riding struck a deer in Wabasha County late Monday night.
According to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 11:28 p.m. Monday night, deputies responded to a motorcycle versus deer accident at the intersection of Wabasha County Road 17 and 335th Ave.
When deputies arrived, they initiated CPR on driver Daran Merle Atkinson, 51, of Lake City, who passed away despite the best efforts of all involved.
The passenger, Lori Schueller, of Lake City, was transported to Rochester with non-life threatening injuries.
The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office says this incident is the fifth fatal accident this year for the county, and second fatal accident involving a deer.
