POLL: Voters speak on handling of the pandemic, vaccines

(ABC 6 News) – In the third part of our new ABC 6 news poll conducted by SurveyUSA we are learning more about how Minnesotans feel Governor Tim Walz has handled the pandemic, as well as their thoughts on vaccines.

Out of 675 Minnesotan adults surveyed earlier this month, more than half somewhat approve of how governor Walz has handled the pandemic, and six percent say they’re not sure how they feel.

When looking at the president’s handling of the pandemic, the numbers are similar to how many somewhat approve of his handling.

But less have some sort of approval while the president is seeing higher disapproval numbers compared to the governor.

So just how many Minnesotans are vaccinated?

According to the poll, 76 percent said yes, and when asked how likely they are to receive a booster shot when it’s available to them, very few say it’s somewhat unlikely they’ll opt for a dose.

Meanwhile, more than half say they support a federal requirement for employers with 100 or more workers to get vaccinated or tested weekly.

And as far as vaccinating kids so far the numbers are mixed.

With more than half, saying kids in Kindergarten through fifth grade should not be vaccinated.

While more than half are giving the green light for those in grades nine through 12 to get vaccinated.
