Renard Carter Sentenced to 90 years in Prison for Murder of pregnant girlfriend, 2-year-old

(ABC 6 News) – Renard Carter will serve almost 90 years in prison for the death of his pregnant girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter.

Carter was sentenced in Olmsted County district court Thursday afternoon on three counts of second-degree murder. Carter was given consecutive sentences adding up to nearly 90 years, with credit for 450 days time already served.

Carter will serve his sentence at the St. Cloud correctional facility.

In July, Carter pled guilty and was convicted of two charges of 2nd-degree murder with intent and a charge of murder of an unborn child.

For the first 2nd-degree murder charge, Carter was sentenced to 426 months, or 35.5 years, with credit for 450 days served.

For the second 2nd-degree murder charge and the death of an unborn child charge, he will serve 326 months, or just over 27 years for each of the charges.

Carter killed his pregnant girlfriend Keona Foote and her 2-year-old child Miyona Miller in September of last year. Carter was arrested in South Carolina within days of the murders.

In November, a judge denied Carter’s request to withdraw his guilty plea.
