(ABC 6 News) — In Iowa, the Osage American Legion Post 278 hosted a Veterans Appreciation Lunch on Sunday organized by the Sons of the American Legion Riders.

Veterans, active-duty military, and their families gathered to witness the community’s heartfelt support.

All of the food served in Sunday’s lunch was community sourced.

With a new generation of veterans, family members are stepping up to organize events, honoring the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes.

Organizers say the money raised from the event will go to grant programs supporting local vets.
