19-year-old falls victim to scam, shares social security number, banking information and more
(ABC 6 News) – A 19-year-old received several alerts of people trying to use her information after falling victim to a scam.
The woman told police she received an email from what appeared to be Apple notifying her of a purchase she made in the app store. She knew she hadn’t bought any apps but clicked on the link to cancel the purchase anyway.
The link took her to a page where police say she entered her social security number, debit and credit card numbers, bank account info and iCloud information.
She then realized it was a scam.
The next day the woman’s dad received a text from a number showing up as the daughter’s telling him to download something.
The woman also received an email that someone was trying to charge $600 to her credit card. She’s since gotten several alerts of possible fraud activity.
