Minnesota State Patrol responds to hundreds of crashes, road incidents across the state Thursday
(ABC 6 News) – With an enormous snowfall dumping on the majority of the state Thursday, Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) responded to hundreds of crashes, its public information officer (PIO) said there were a total of 470 crashes, 38 of them resulted in injuries. Meanwhile, there were 261 vehicles off the road, 25 spin-outs and 30 jackknifed semis.
Of those crashes, at least three have taken place in the ABC 6 News viewing area. This morning at 7:45 a Toyota crashed into two cars that had lost control and stopped on the road on Highway 52 near Rochester. The driver of the Toyota, 46-year-old Kyle Kuchenmeister of Rochester, as well as one of the drivers of the other car, 23-year-old Ellie Stebbens of Stewartville, both received non-life threatening injuries.
Then at 8 a.m., MSP responded to a GMC Yukon which lost control and went into the ditch. That driver, 74-year-old Gregg Dahl of Hager City, WI, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
And around 11:30, the state patrol responded to a semi which lost control and jackknifed on Interstate 90 near Owatonna. That driver also suffered non-life threatening injuries.
