Overnight Pine Island fire destroys shed, farm equipment

(ABC 6 News) – The Pine Island Fire Department responded to an early Tuesday morning structure fire that resulted in the loss of a shed and farm equipment.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 800 block of White Pines Road SE in Pine Island Township after a passerby noticed the fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a shed on fire. Inside were hay, a skid loader, lawn mower and other misc. items which were all destroyed.

Livestock was able to escape the fire. No injuries were reported.

Electrical issues are suspected as the cause, however the fire is still under investigation by the Minnesota Fire Marshal. Crews remained on scene until approximately 5:00 a.m.

The Pine Island Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Oronoco Fire, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and Goodhue County Electric.
