Frontline worker paychecks to start distributing Wednesday

(ABC 6 News) – The State of Minnesota on Wednesday will begin sending out frontline worker paychecks to more than 1 million eligible residents.

Minnesotans who were approved will receive a little more than $487 as part of the Frontline Worker Pay program. The payments aren’t subject to state taxes, but are still subject to federal taxes.

The amount is being distributed evenly to applicants who were approved through an application and appeal process. The money is part of $500 million that legislators had set aside for frontline workers to recognize the sacrifices they made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials say every person who applied and was approved will get an e-mail by the end of the day Wednesday to notify them of their final status.

Payments will continue to be made throughout the fall.

Anyone who chose to receive the money through a direct deposit should get their funds within 7 to 10 business days.

However, those who chose to receive the money by a debit card should receive that within three to four weeks.
