Mayo Clinic celebrates being #1 hospital in the nation

(ABC 6 News) -Thursday, Mayo Clinic employees celebrated being ranked #1 hospital in the nation for the 7th year in a row according to U.S. News & World Report.

The distinction is exciting to all different types of employees at Mayo Clinic, from nurses on the hospital floor to CEO Gianrico Farrugia, handing out water bottles.

Mayo Clinic sees more than 1.3 million patients every year, with people coming from all 50 states and 140 countries.

Dr. Halena Gazelka with Mayo Clinic says this is the first large-scale event the medical giant has hosted since the pandemic.

“You can just feel the joy here everyone is just so delighted to get together. This is really the first big event that we’ve had since the pandemic and we’re just thrilled to have an event to thank our employees today,” Gazelka said.

Employees had a photo booth, food and drinks, and live music.
