Rochester tree planting event planned on Saturday
(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Parks and Rec is partnering with RNeighbors and hosting a tree planting event on Saturday.
It is a volunteer opportunity for anyone who is interested in planting trees in the neighborhood near Prairie Crossing Park.
The event is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m. and volunteers should meet at the intersection of 68th St. NW and Gaillardia Dr. NW. The tree planting should finish around 11:00 a.m.
Event organizers say the goal is to plant 100 street trees.
Volunteers are asked to check-in and register upon arrival. They will be given a team color, and watch a tree planting demo.
Each planting group will have at least one Citizen Forester who will guide volunteers to ensure each tree is planted properly.
There is no cost, no experience is necessary and all ages are welcome.
RNeighbors says since 2004, they have utilized over 7,000 volunteers to plant over 8,000 boulevard trees.
