WEATHER FIRST: Thunderstorms will begin to taper off late this evening

As of 9:20pm, thunderstorms with strong, gusty winds continue in southeast Minnesota and far northeast Iowa. Rain is still falling for most, but severe potential is waning quickly.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH continues for parts of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. It has been canceled early in south-central Minnesota and north-central Iowa.

Showers and thunderstorms will push out of the area by late evening. However, as the center of the storm passes overhead, it’ll swing some more energy and moisture through leading to the chance of additional showers late overnight into early Saturday.
