City of Rochester offers free workshop on switching to high-efficiency electricity

(ABC 6 News) – The City of Rochester is offering the community a lesson to help learn how to switch their appliances from fossil fuels to high-efficiency electric options. There will also be resources available to assist with the process with step-by-step guidance.

Electrify Everything Minnesota is offered by the Center for Energy and Environment.

The workshop will be held on April 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Development Services and Infrastructure Center, located 4001 West River Parkway.

Advanced registration is strongly encouraged but not required.

This workshop will include: 

  • A presentation on the pillars of home electrification, insulation and air sealing, heat pumps for heating and cooling, heat pump hybrid water heaters, clothes dryers, induction stoves and electrical service upgrades. 
  • Activities to allow residents to ask questions about specific electrification steps and technologies. 
  • An overview of financial incentives, planning assistance and preferred contractors for electrification projects. 
  • Opportunities to talk with contractors at the event to get answers to questions and support on the first steps for launching these projects. 
  • Light dinner
