$2M Powerball ticket sold in Forest City
(ABC 6 News) – A $2 million-winning Powerball ticket was sold to some lucky person in Forest City.
According to the Iowa Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at a Casey’s convenient store located at 1132 Highway 69 S. in Forest City.
During Monday’s drawing, the ticket matched the first 5 numbers, but missed the Powerball to win a $1 million prize. However, the person that bought the ticket added the Power Play option, which multiplies the prize to $2 million.
The ticket came within one number of winning the $403.9 million jackpot.
The winning numbers were 3-6-11-17-22 and a Powerball of 11. The Power Play was 2.
The Forest City ticket was the only one in the country to win a $2 million prize in Monday’s drawing.
Since nobody matched all 6 numbers to win the jackpot, the prize climbs to an estimated $420 million for Wednesday’s drawing.
Meanwhile, Casey’s will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.
It is the second biggest Powerball win this year in Iowa. In January, a couple from New Hampton claimed a $2 million Powerball prize.
Powerball prizes won in Iowa must be claimed within 365 days of the drawing for which they were won.
Prizes of $2 million must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. The winner or winners of the Forest City prize can call the lottery at 515-725-7900 to make an appointment to claim it.
