(ABC 6 News) – It was a night to raise money and also raise awareness of life-saving work being done.
Thursday night, Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge hosted its annual gala, a chance for the community to hear about the success of the program, and just how far participants have come.
The treatment center has locations across the state including Rochester where its director says services are needed more than ever.
The faith-based program has some of the highest success rates around. The treatment and recovery programs focus on helping people break free of their struggles and give them the freedom to begin their lives again.
Last year, nearly 13 hundred people died in Minnesota as a result of an overdose. That’s a 22 percent increase from the year before.
On average – the state says four people die every day.
Earlier this week, ABC 6 News sat down with a man who recently graduated from the program in Rochester and is clear after 15 years of addiction. He’s now working at Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge and sharing his story to inspire others.
