Rochester NAACP shares excitement over Supreme Court nomination

(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester NAACP is expressing its excitement over the Supreme Court nomination, Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The organization has been calling for President Biden to nominate a black woman and say Friday’s bigger message is for all the young black women and girls.

"This is an important day," said Wale Elegbede, president of the Rochester NAACP. "It says you can be a Supreme Court justice, you too can be President of the United States. So there’s nothing that you can’t achieve if you work hard and the right circumstances."

The organization says the move is long overdue and it goes to show representation matters.
