Blowing snow, slick roads cause dozens of crashes
A crash Tuesday morning closed a portion of northbound Interstate 35 just south of Elko New Market.
A MnDOT traffic camera showed several vehicles involved, including a few semi-trucks, near milepost 72.
MnDOT says northbound I-35 between Exit 69 and Exit 76 was expected to be closed until around 2 p.m.
The stretch of interstate has since reopened.
The Minnesota State Patrol said only minor injuries were reported.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., 85 crashes occurred statewide (8 with injury, 0 serious/fatal) & 54 veh spin out/off the road & 1 jackknifed semi.
Earlier in the day, from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., there were 187 crashes (17 with injury, 1 serious-Anoka/0 fatal) & 79 veh spin out/off the road & 5 jackknifed semis.
In Iowa, the state patrol is reporting 48 crashs occurred between midnight and 12 p.m. Tueday.
The crashes included 4 with injuries and 44 causing property damage.
