2 dead after police responded to a residence in Charles City

(ABC 6 News) – Two people are dead after police responded to a home in Charles City last Tuesday.

On Tuesday, October 12th just before 3:30 p.m. officers with the Charles City Police Department responded to a call on the 300 block of Shaw Ave. in Charles City. When officers arrived, they spoke with several people on the scene, during that time, one person was taken to Floyd County Medical Center where they later died.

Officers later entered the home and found a dead body inside the residence.

Police are treating the incident as a murder-suicide and are awaiting autopsy results.

Police say that there is no danger to the public and the incident remains under investigation.
