35 cars carrying grain and corn involved in derailment near Rockwell Thursday

(ABC 6 News) – An estimated 35 cars carrying grain and corn derailed near Rockwell early Thursday.

The derailment happened at about 3:30 a.m. CDT about one mile southwest of the community of Rockwell.

A spokesperson from Union Pacific Railroad said all the rail cars and locomotives that derailed have been cleared and work has begun to repair the track.

The track is expected to reopen later Friday or early Saturday.

No one was injured.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
