73-year-old Rochester woman robbed in her home
(ABC 6 News) – On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., Rochester Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Homestead Village Lane Southeast for reports of a woman crying on the side of the road. The caller said she had visible injuries, according to the police department.
Officers found the 73-year-old woman, and she said a man had tried to rob her.
According to RPD, the man walked into her apartment and asked for her phone and money. He tried to take her purse and pushed her to the ground, where he punched her in the face.
The man then threw her purse back at her. Next, he pulled out a knife and asked her for her money and phone again.
She gave him the phone and said she didn’t have money. He then ran out the front door.
She chased after him for a few blocks until he threw the phone back at her. He then ran from the area.
RPD said she has visible injuries to her face. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance for a possible concussion.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20’s.
Officers have not found the suspect yet. The incident is under investigation.
