AHS welcomes new Head Track and Field Coach
(ABC 6 News) – Austin Public Schools announced the high school has a new Head Track and Field Coach.
A press release from the school said:
Austin Public Schools and the Austin High School Activities Department are excited to announce that Gabe Nelson has accepted the position of Head Boys Track and Field Coach.
Coach Nelson is a Physical Education and Health teacher in the ALC program here at Austin High School and has been an assistant coach with our Track and Field program for the last 6 years. During his time, he has worked with our jumpers as well as our discus throwers.
“I’ve had many influential coaches in my life tell me that if you’re willing to work hard, there will always be a place for you on the track team,” says Coach Nelson. “I share this same message to my athletes now. I truly believe that anyone can find their niche on the team with hard work and determination.”
Gabe has a BS degree in Physical Education from Bemidji State University as well as Minor in Coaching.
