Albert Lea Police Department is asking for your help to find a shooting suspect
(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Albert Lea Police Department is asking for your help to locate a shooting suspect.
On May 1, Officers from the Albert Lea Police Department were dispatched to a call of a man with a gun.
Officers responded to the area of the 1300 block of Louis Street and when they arrived, officers heard what sounded like a gunshot.
An officer saw a person running east from Louis Street. Officers tried to follow the suspect, but they were unable to locate them.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted in the search, the suspect was last seen in the area of the 1200 block of Dunham St.
Police say when they arrived to the scene they found a 34-year-old outside a residence.
The male suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. First responders administered first aid to the victim, the man was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital System in Albert Lea via Mayo Ambulance.
The suspect has been identified as a 19-year-old man named Javen Juan Moreno.
He is wanted in connection to this incident.
Police say Moreno is believed to be armed with a handgun and should be considered dangerous.
Albert Lea Police say this is an isolated incident and they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
