American Legion Post No. 92 elects new commander

(ABC 6 News) – American Legion Post number 92 held its changing of the guard ceremony Tuesday, an annual ceremony where the legion swears in new members of it leadership team including the commander of the post.

This years new president is Gilmore, a very popular member at the post and is very excited to take over leadership of the legion and help out the veterans and the community.

"I’m very nervous, I’m very excited to take on this position. It’s a great opportunity to help the veterans out there, so that we can have more awareness for veterans affairs and veteran concerns when is comes to their medical conditions, employment and their needs that they have, and to help the community here in Rochester," said Gilmore.

The new incoming president can choose who swears them in and Gilmore chose 1st District Commander Elect Mary Hanson who will be the first woman to serve in that role in the district’s history.
