Austin man pleads guilty to fleeing police
(ABC 6 News) – Johnny Eugene Davis of Austin pleaded guilty to one count of felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
Davis, 58, was charged with the felony while fleeing police on March 19, 2021. He was wanted on a felony warrant, issued for a charge of having been a violent felon in possession of a firearm.
He was eventually arrested on March 23.

According to court documents, on March 23, Davis admitted that he fled from the police in his truck and said it was because he “didn’t want to go to jail.”
Davis first pleaded not guilty, then amended his plea Monday, waiving his right to a jury trial in the process.
His sentencing is scheduled for June 16, 2022.
