(ABC 6 News) – Austin Police Chief David McKichan shared a message on social media as the department investigates its fourth homicide over the span of the last 12 months.

"I happen to work in an environment where the negative crosses my desk on a daily basis," said. Chief McKichan.
"I still however feel appreciative about living in Austin. I know that so many positive projects are occurring here and that many are involved in growing those good things. Larger forces, unfortunately, are driving a trend in which we, the state, and nation as a whole seem to seeing more of these high-level crimes of violence. Austin is not an outlier in this regard."
