Burke Egner named Albert Lea Teacher of the year

(ABC 6 News) – The Albert Lea school district announced its 2022 teacher of the year Wednesday.

Burke Egner, who is a STEM teacher and the technology integration coach for the district won this year’s award. Egner has been with the district for five years.

Egner also leads the robotics team and is being recognized for his outstanding work with students in the classroom.

"I’m just – I’m excited. I’m overwhelmed. I’m nervous, this is an amazing opportunity. If you’re not living in Albert Lea school district, you’re in the wrong place, because we got all the best teachers," Egner said.

Burke says he’s especially proud of his students on the robotics team, who will be attending a national competition later this year in Dallas, Texas.
