Chatfield police, school officials investigating possible threat against student
(ABC 6 News) – School officials in Chatfield say the situation is "well in hand" after threats were reportedly made against a student.
In a statement to ABC 6 News, Chatfield Public Schools Superintendent Edward Harris said:
During non-school hours, a junior high student emailed a threatening message to another junior high student. There were no threats to anyone else or threats of bringing a gun to school. Law enforcement and the administration made contact with the families involved immediately upon learning of the threat. The admin has been working with law enforcement since yesterday afternoon to track this down and discover all relevant information.
We take all threats seriously regardless of their merit. As of this afternoon, we believe the situation to be well in hand.
As of Thursday afternoon, February 3rd, the Chatfield Police department told ABC 6 News they were aware of the threat and were looking into it.
