(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester City Council talked about the renewal of a local option sales tax for a handful of projects on Monday.
One of the larger projects discussed was the Regional Community and Recreation Complex which would be funded with around 65-million dollars in city sales tax.
The city council said the state legislature is currently working through project plans.
"Those are conversations that we have been having in terms of the education and awareness and that being a focus not just on one particular project I think that will be an especially important piece as we move through the process but note hundred percent that is not lost on us far as the communication engagement on all for projects even though they are focusing the engagement process on our RCTC," Strategic Communications & Engagement Director Jenna Bowman said.
The council said it should know more by May 23rd.
Once approved by the state, the council will be able to compile design recommendations, refine plans and submit it to go on November’s ballot.
