DFL convention underway in Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – Friday was the start of the Minnesota DFL Convention held at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

Events will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with attendees encouraged to join training sessions, along with the party endorsing various candidates to run in the Minnesota primary.

Friday evening, Tim Walz was been endorsed for Governor.

“The strong, steady, and successful leadership Governor Walz has shown while facing unprecedented challenges has earned the trust and respect of the people of Minnesota. The DFL Party is proud to endorse Governor Tim Walz for a second term,” said DFL Party Chariman Ken Martin in a statement.

Martin adding, “Governor Walz is leading Minnesota forward by ensuring our kids get a world class education, expanding economic opportunity for all, and protecting the health and safety of Minnesotans. Minnesota’s unemployment rate just hit record lows and new business filings are at a record high thanks to Governor Walz’s hard work."

Peggy Flanagan was endorsed for Lieutenant Governor:

“The DFL Party is proud to endorse Lt. Governor Flanagan because of her dedication to the people of our state. It is vital that we re-elect her and Governor Walz this November so they can continue to build on the tremendous progress they have delivered for Minnesotans. Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan has earned the support of voters everywhere by leading our state forward with compassion and a relentless focus on the needs of our communities. Lt. Governor Flanagan has worked tirelessly to make childcare more affordable and accessible, fought hard for our public school students, and has been a fierce champion for reproductive rights,” said Martin.

And, Julie Blaha has been endorsed for State Auditor.
