(ABC 6 NEWS) – A family has been displaced from their home in Northeast Rochester after a house fire happened earlier Saturday afternoon.
The Rochester Fire Department got a call just before 3 p.m. for a bedroom on fire on the 1600 block of 2nd avenue northeast, near Silver Lake Foods Grocery Store.
All of the people inside had gotten out of the house, and there were no injuries.
The fire happened on the second floor in the back corner of the house, with flames and smoke showing from the upper floor bedroom windows.
Fire crews began putting out the fire through the windows from the outside, additional crews arrived on the scene and took a hose line inside, and continued to extinguish the fire.
The Rochester Fire Department is calling the house uninhabitable at this point because there is so much smoke and water inside.
RFD is working with the Red Cross to find temporary housing for the family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
