Graduate students at Mayo Clinic celebrate Match Day

(ABC 6 News) – Friday was match day for medical students at Mayo Clinic.

The Match is celebrated by all graduating medical students across the country. They discover where they will spend the next two to seven years as a resident.

Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine had 97 students participating in the event Friday.

"I’d like to give a plug to the staff and administration at the medical school just how supportive they have been to me and my classmates throughout these past four years couldn’t have done it without them and couldn’t have done it without my classmates. It will be bittersweet to it will be exciting to leave but it will be sad to say goodbye to the new family I made in Rochester," Benjamin Nelson, a medical student, said.

For these students, Match Day is the culmination of four years of hard work. Graduation day is set for May 22 this year.
